Having admitted here and to myself that as much as I would like to, I just simply can’t do everything myself and have it make the impact I would like. With that said, I noticed the nifty little feature of this wordpress theme with the resumé part.
It has a feature where you can name a skill and give yourself a rating on that skill. I only used it on two items at the moment, and never thought I would go back to re-using it for anything else. Now, a little rewinding and fast forwarding…
So, I’ve come to realize that whole “Jack of all trades, master of none” phrase has come to life, in a way. I’ve been going back and forth, beating myself up with the need to get an actual portfolio together and up to date for a real professional look. While I had adored my site before with its plain and simple look and maneuvering, I spent more time on tweaking the code than actually looking through the artwork I had to clean up and upload.
So, I’m finally tinkering around with WordPress. I’m not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. I normally don’t blog about things on a regular basis, and when I try they seem to fail after a short bit. Read more
My initial review can be found here: http://dreamingkey.livejournal.com/7982.html
But it’s been a while, and I think it’s time to look at it in a new light now that I’ve used it and abused it a bit more. And with the abuse, came it’s actual breaking point.
First, out of the box brand spanking new, it works like a dream. Good photos, easy to use, and just an easy to maneuver point and shoot. Unfortunately, the more you try to tweak the settings if you try to use the device for somewhat more professional photos, it starts to go downhill. After trying to tweak and ISO settings or the flash, it no longer wants to deliver the clean, clear and crisp photos you started to get. This is a problem, especially when I try to do photography without the flash, specifically cause I like the natural light of the scene I’m trying to shoot. (And don’t get me wrong, I do admit the slightest shiver or shake usually ruins these type of photos, but I still like trying. If I get the shot I want, it makes all the effort I put in trying to take it worth it. Even if I go through 3 rolls of film.) Read more
So, I admit I haven’t been as productive as I would have liked with this journal, but I’m not going to throw it away either. I’m gonna keep going. Now, let’s have some updates, shall we?
Job front: Despite all the pushes and emails and snail mails, no one has responded what so ever. So, I’m putting it on hold again. I think I need to broaden my horizons a bit and perhaps delve more into that networking thing. As they say, “It’s not what you know, but who you know.” My first step is helping out with a local community college newspaper, showing them the ropes on how to produce a better, cleaner paper with less of a headache. And maybe either take a college class or two (I’ve been eyeballing their darkroom classes) or maybe even make introductions to the college’s marketing department and see what I can’t work out there. Who knows, there might be something I can burrow into. Read more
